An Anamorphic Lens Shoot Out

One of the most frequently asked questions I get about the Aussiemorphic Lens is - How does it compare to the other commercial offerings? In an attempt to answer this, I recently had the opportunity to compare the Aussiemorphic Lens against the two leading prismatic lenses. Whilst the following is in no way scientific, the results are quite surprising.

The most important thing to remember here is that the Aussiemorphic Lens is marketed as a DIY kit, and that it is only a 2 element lens where the other 2 units in this "shootout" feature 5 elements and are corrected for both CA and focus.

The following images have been captured by my Fujifilm S5600 digital camera that was mounted on a tri-pod. The camera was white balanced and shutter speed reduced to capture an image without a lens in front of the projector, set and not altered in any way thereafter. The timer was used to ensure no motion blur occurred during image capture. The image source is Bru-ray Disc projected by a Sharp Z10000 720 DLP projector with a throw ratio of 2.5:1 onto a 3m wide 2.35:1 screen.
